Ethanol is a commodity futures contract on denatured fuel bioethanol standard ASTM D4806, traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and serving as a key hedging instrument in the US energy sector. In August 2026 the maximum reached 2.12 USD/gallon, the minimum was 1.93 USD/gallon, and the average level stood at 2.01 USD/gallon. The price is based on continuous physically settled CME futures and acts as the pricing benchmark for the US bioethanol market.
