The Baltic Dry Index is a composite indicator of dry bulk shipping costs on major global routes and serves as the primary barometer of world trade and the Handymax, Panamax and Capesize vessel market. In June 2026 the maximum reached 3222.00 index points, the minimum was 2490.00 index points and the average stood at 2758.05 index points. The index reflects freight rates only and is published by the Baltic Exchange.
