The Live Cattle index represents a CFD on young steers tracking physically settled futures on the CME and acting as a key benchmark for the US live cattle market. In July 2026 the maximum reached 241.83 cents/lb, the minimum was 223.20 cents/lb, with an average level of 230.79 cents/lb. The index price is based on the contract for difference tracking physically settled futures on cattle weighing 1050–1500 pounds.
