The index reflects the dynamics of the South African stock market based on the largest companies traded on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). It covers the 40 most capitalized companies nominated in the South African Rand (ZAR). The index is a market capitalization-weighted indicator reflecting a key segment of the South African equity market. The calculation methodology includes regular rebalancing of the index composition to maintain representativeness.
