The index reflects the continuous physically settled RBOB gasoline futures contract (FOB New York Harbor) and is the primary benchmark for automotive fuel prices in the United States. In July 2026 the maximum reached 3.50 USD/gallon, the minimum was 2.92 USD/gallon, averaging 3.20 USD/gallon. The index is derived from a rolling series of physically delivered futures.
