Index description

The Coal (Netherlands) futures contract is based on API2 CIF ARA coal and serves as a price indicator for thermal coal in the European energy sector, where the Netherlands is a key import hub for Europe. In August 2026 the maximum reached 133.25 USD/ton, the minimum was 116.05 USD/ton, and the average level stood at 121.79 USD/ton. The futures acts as a price reference for the regional market.
