Index description

The Nickel Index is formed from glued Nickel (Nickel) futures on MCX, reflecting the pure metal (minimum 99.80 %), popular for hedging in the steel and battery industries, taking into account supplies from Indonesia and Russia. In September 2026 the maximum reached 1617.70 INR/kg, the minimum was 1563.60 INR/kg and the average level stood at 1600.45 INR/kg. MCX holds a prominent position in global nickel trading, offering Indian traders access in rupees without currency risks.
