Index description

The IMF Cotton Index is an international price indicator for middling quality cotton, used to analyze global trends in the agricultural and textile sectors with primary trading in Liverpool. In 2026 the maximum reached 85.58 cents per pound, the minimum was 73.96 cents per pound, and the average level stood at 77.74 cents per pound. The index is based on middling 1-3/32 inch staple cotton on CIF Liverpool terms according to Cotton Outlook.
