1998 default as remembered by financial market participants – Cbonds release

20 years ago, on August 17th, 1998, the Central Bank of Russia announced a debt service default on domestic government bonds. At the same time, the government let devaluation happen by refusing to maintain a stable ruble-dollar exchange rate. Cbonds asked financial market participants what they remembered in the 1998 crisis and how it affected their career.
