Index description

The Reserve Bank sets the target ‘cash rate’, which is the market interest rate on overnight funds. The Cash Rate is also an important financial benchmark in the Australian financial markets. The cash rate is the (near) risk-free benchmark rate (RFR) for the Australian dollar. The cash rate is also known as AONIA (AUD Overnight Index Average).
