Index description

The CPI Trimmed mean is a measure of underlying inflation. The Trimmed mean is calculated using a weighted average of seasonally adjusted percentage change from the middle 70 per cent of the distribution. That is, Expenditure Classes with a cumulative total below 15 per cent and above 85 per cent are excluded (trimmed) from the calculation.
