Indes shows the number of new applications for unemployment insurance in the United States filed for the week. The data is seasonally adjusted. Each state determines its own eligibility criteria of unemployment insurance. Usually this is a job loss through no fault of their own and the presence of at least 4 quarters of worked out of the last 5 caledar quarters, as well as other requirements.
