Index description

The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) excluding energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco (year-on-year, YoY) measures the core inflation rate across European countries. By excluding volatile components, it captures underlying inflationary trends driven by domestic economic factors. The indicator is a key measure for the European Central Bank and national statistical authorities to assess inflationary pressures and guide monetary policy decisions.
