State Mortgage Institution (GIU) to issue UAH 500m worth of bonds not backed by state guarantee in 2008

State Mortgage Institution (GIU) intends to issue bonds not backed by state guarantee in 2008. The issue will amount to UAH 500m, announced Kirill Shevchenko, head of GIU. “The 1st issue worth UAH 200m is scheduled for the 1st quarter of 2008, we plan to increase the issue amount to UAH 500m by the end of the year”, expanded Kirill Shevchenko. He announced about the company’s plans to issue 3-year mortgage-backed bonds in November 2007. State Mortgage Institution (GIU) was set up by the government of Ukraine in October 2004. The company deals with refinancing of mortgage lenders using funds raised by placing securities. The Ukrainian budget for 2008 presupposes a state guarantee for GIU’s debt obligations worth UAH 1bn. |
