Belarusian bonds have fallen due to increasing criticism from Western nations over the forced landing of a flight

May 24, 2021

Some EU leaders described it as a hijacking. A passenger plane was suddenly diverted to Minsk, escorted there by a MiG-29 fighter jet on what appeared to be a false bomb alert. After its landing, the authorities took into custody the journalist Roman Protasevich.

EU leaders will discuss additional sanctions against Belarus at a summit later today.

The bid price of the 6.2% 28feb2030 bond fell from 100% (May 21) to 90.78% at Moscow Exchange T+ (May 24).
