Germany may meet with a dramatic wave of corporate bankruptcy as the government moratorium expires today
October 1, 2020
Since October 1, companies that can't fulfill their bill payments will look for court protection. The moratorium was a part of government measures aimed to cushion consequences from an economic recession caused by the virus. However, according to economists Joerg Kraemer and Marco Wagner, "it could be worse, though. The fact that on average, companies have relatively high levels of equity on their balance sheets means the hit to the economy will be “far less dramatic” than in the early 2000s."
