Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is astatein thenorthernpart ofIndia. Uttarakhand is known for its natural beauty of theHimalayas, theBhabharand theTerai. On 9 November 2000, this 27th state of theRepublic of Indiawas created from the Himalayan and adjoining northwestern districts ofUttar Pradesh.It borders theTibeton the north; theMahakali Zoneof theFar-Western Region,Nepalon the east; and the Indian states ofUttar Pradeshto the south andHimachal Pradesh to the west and north-west as well asHaryanato its south-western corner. The state is divided into two divisions,GarhwalandKumaon, with a total of13 districts. The interim capital of Uttarakhand isDehradun, the largest city in the region, which is a railhead. TheHigh Courtof the state is inNainital.
