“Bunge CIS” LLC, Russian subsidiary of Bunge Ltd, was established in Russia in 2004. The company carries activities in two areas: food products and sales of agricultural products – grain and oilseeds. Bunge owns three popular brands of oil – Oleina, IDEAL and Maslenitsa, added to the company‘s portfolio in 2003, 2005 and 2008 respectively. At present, according to the retail measurement results presented by “Nielsen” company, these oil brands together hold more than a 12% share of the Russian market. During 2004-2005 the company purchased grain elevators in Krasnodar and Voronezh regions as well as a grain terminal in Rostov-on-Don. By operating the grain elevators and running regional divisions in the main Russian grain-producing regions, Bunge actively develop grain export and also purchases sunflower seeds for its new oil extraction plant. Construction of the oil plant in Voronezh region started in spring 2005, and at the end of 2008 the new enterprise was formally opened. The amount of US$ 130 million was invested in the project. Annual plant capacity is 500 thousand ton of raw materials, which will allow producing over 200 million bottles of sunflower oil. Today, in the frameworks of its global strategy, Bunge assigns Russia to be a priority market for sunflower processing and grain procurement and export.
