Profile

Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP is the Netherlands' largest pension fund for civil servants and education workers in the Netherlands. The predecessor of ABP, the Algemeen Burgerlijk Pensioenfonds Pension Fund, was established in 1922 after the adoption of the Superannuation Law, which regulated the pensions of civil servants. Initially, the pension fund was a government-controlled institution that reported to the Minister of the Interior in The Hague. In January 1996, ABP was privatized, although its main function remained unchanged. Since March 1, 2008, ABP subsidiary APG has been managing the ABP pension scheme. ABP is headquartered in Heerlen, the Netherlands.
