The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a state, issuing and reserve bank of the republic that governs the banking sector and exercises licensing, regulatory and prudential supervision authorities.

The status, objectives, functions and powers of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan are defined by Law No. 154-I “On Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan” dated December 21, 1995, the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other regulations.

The Central Bank has the exclusive right to issue currency notes as statutory means of payment on the territory of Uzbekistan.

For the purposes of bank liquidity regulation, the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan issues coupon notes of various maturities. The nominal value of the bank notes is UZS 1,000,000. The notes are placed by a public auction in the trading system of the Uzbekistan Republican Currency Exchange (UzRCE).
