FSUE "Mayak Production Association" the first industrial facility of the domestic nuclear industry ensures the security of the state by fulfilling the state defense order for the production of nuclear weapons components, and plays a serious role in the nuclear energy complex of Russia, implementing modern environmentally acceptable production technologies. The Mayak Production Association is part of the State Atomic Energy Corporation and is a unique complex created in the Urals in the first post-war years. The company was established in the late forties to produce weapons-grade plutonium and process fissile materials in order to create parity in the field of nuclear weapons. The main directions of the current activities of FSUE "PO "Mayak", the leading enterprise of the nuclear weapons complex of Russia, are:
- execution of the state defense order for the production of components of nuclear weapons;
- transportation and reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel;
- production and sale of isotope products;
- mechanical engineering and instrumentation;
- research and production activities and solving problems of nuclear heritage.
