The Rostov Region is part of the Southern Federal District and includes 463 municipalities, consisting of 12 urban districts, 43 municipal districts, 17 urban settlements, and 391 rural settlements.
The Rostov region is a powerful agricultural and industrial region rich in first-class anthracite (90% of coal reserves) and chernozems that provide high grain yields. The region is a leader in the production of agricultural machinery, extraction of non-metallic materials (sand, limestone), and is also known for its developed winemaking, fishing, and the cultural heritage of the Don Cossacks.
The Ministry of Finance of the Rostov Region is an executive governmental body authorized to ensure the development and implementation of a unified budgetary and financial policy of the region.
