Rio Tinto plc (Rio Tinto) is engaged in minerals exploration, development, production and processing. Its product groups include aluminum, copper, diamonds and minerals, energy, and iron ore. Its major products are aluminum, copper, diamonds, coal, iron ore, uranium, molybdenum, gold, borates, titanium dioxide, salt and talc. On January 4, 2011, it sold 61% of Alcan Engineered Products, excluding the Cable division. On April 1, 2011, it acquired Riversdale Mining Limited. In August 2011, the Company sold its talc business to Imerys. In September 2011, Iron Ore Holdings Ltd. sold Pilbara asset to Rio Tinto. In January 2012, the Company acquired 2% of Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. On January 12,2011, the Company completed the acquisition of Hathor Exploration Limited. During the year ended December 31, 2011, it sold its Colowyo energy to Western Fuels-Colorado LLC. In July 2012, it acquired 51% interest in Ivanhoe Mines Ltd.
