The new SMBC Nikko Capital Markets Limited (“SMBC Nikko”) was launched in the UK on 1st October, 2010 and in a short space of time has combined its traditional strength as a global derivatives dealer with an exciting mandate to build a new exceptional securities company providing a full range of investment services to European clients in collaboration with SMBC Nikko Securities Inc. Tokyo (“SMBC Nikko Tokyo”). We have, within a very short time, established a significant investment banking presence, centred in London, and based on our core strength in Japanese financial products. SMBC Nikko is a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), one of Japan’s megabanks, and, as such, is ideally positioned to provide our customers with additional value as a partner in the strategic and important Japanese financial markets. Although we have a new name and mission, our company has, since its incorporation in 1989, established a tradition of finding innovative solutions to meet the specific investment requirements of our clients whilst stressing the corporate attributes of continuity and reliability. SMBC Nikko continues to act as an agent for the booking of certain derivative transactions in SMBC Capital Markets Inc. New York, and is responsible for the marketing and trading of interest rate, currency and commodity derivatives in EMEA for the SMBC group.
