The US elections: Who\'s best for Russia?
This note looks at the potential political and economic implications of
the upcoming US elections for Russia. On the political side, we see more
continuity than change in US-Russian relations in the short to medium
term, especially given Bush,s re-election, although even if a new
administration moves into the White House next year we don,t foresee any
substantial cooling in bilateral relations. Economically, we don,t
necessarily favor one candidate over another, although each could have a
different impact on global markets, with a Kerry victory potentially
favoring a stronger dollar and a Bush victory likely keeping oil prices
higher.
