Daily Insight-IMF and Ukraine start new round of talks; update on the state coffers; May steel output
Ukraine hopes to resume cooperation with the IMF through fulfilling the agreements reached earlier, i.e., attaining the set structural benchmarks by July at the latest, according to the statement made by first vice premier Andriy Klyuev. In another public, verbal intervention yesterday, National Bank Governor Sergiy Arbuzov said he did not expect that the country\'s cooperation with the IMF would terminate, because this could affect the country\'s balance of payments and foreign direct investments inflow, even though Ukraine has ways to compensate for this. Mr Arbuzov also said that the IMF\'s mission is to visit Kiev in the nearest time; this is a positive development, as previously, the timing for the next mission\'s arrival was not clear due to lack of progress on Ukraine\'s part, and now the IMF\'s officials apparently see sufficient grounds for the possible resumption of funding.
