Daily Insight-September\'s headline CPI at nearly 3%; grain quotas at the gates
Ukraine\'s consumer price index (CPI) shot up 2.9% MoM in September, after a 4-month period of deflation (April-July). In September alone, consumer prices rose two-thirds over their increase in the previous eight months of 2010 (prices grew by merely 4.3% YoY in 8M10). On a YoY basis, consumer prices grew 10.5% in September. During the 9M10, inflation reached 7.4%.
