Daily Insight-July\'s monthly statistics on headline CPI and DTEK in spotlight
According to the monthly statistical report published by the State Statistics Committee, consumer prices continued to deflate in July. The headline consumer price index for July declined by 0.2% compared to June, extending the series of monthly deflation figures seen in the economy since this April. In year-on-year terms, headline CPI in July was at 8.6%, down by 0.2ppt from 8.8% YoY a month ago. As in the previous three months, the food component of the basket was the main driver of consumer deflation versus the previous month. In July, the CPI basket component that tracks prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages in particular declined by 0.7% MoM, where such key items as milk, edible oil, and vegetables continued to decline in prices.
