It borders in the west with the Omsk and Tyumen regions, in the west and north - with the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra, in the east - with the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in the south - with the Kemerovo and Novosibirsk Regions.
The financial authority of the subject is the Department of Finance of Tomsk Region, which is part of the system of executive bodies of state power and financed from the regional budget. The main goals of his activities are to ensure the implementation and creation of conditions for optimizing expenditure obligations of Tomsk region.
