The Georgia's Ministry of Finance outlines the main areas of the Georgia's public debt policy and approves a Public Finance Management Reform Strategy on a three-year basis, which is intended to ensure rational and efficient financial management of the state.
The Georgia's Ministry of Finance issues treasury bills and bonds to develop and support the Georgian financial market. A treasury bill is a short-term discount government security; treasury bonds are medium-term coupon securities with a maturity of 1 to 10 years and coupon payments every six months. Government securities are issued in national currency (GEL) in book-entry form. The nominal value of a security is GEL 1,000. The securities are auctioned on previously announced dates. Any individual or legal entity, both resident and non-resident, may buy government securities through the commercial banks operating in Georgia. |
