Taiwan is a highly developed East Asian economy with Taipei as its capital. Mandarin Chinese is the principal official language, and the New Taiwan dollar (TWD) is the national currency. The economy is globally integrated and strongly supported by semiconductors, electronics, information technology, manufacturing, trade, financial services, and advanced industrial production. Taiwan has a sophisticated capital-market infrastructure centered around the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and Taipei Exchange (TPEx).
The Taiwan bonds market is one of the most developed fixed-income markets in Asia and includes central government bonds, municipal bonds, corporate bonds, financial debentures, and other debt instruments. Taiwan bonds market is actively used as benchmark for domestic interest rates and institutional portfolio management. Central government bonds are auctioned through an electronic bidding system, while the secondary market operates through both electronic bond trading and over-the-counter channels.
The Taiwan government bond market is supported by the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and domestic financial-market infrastructure. Government bonds are issued at different maturities and traded through the Electronic Bond Trading System as well as OTC markets. TPEx provides detailed market information and quotations for government securities, including benchmark bonds and when-issued trading.
Taiwanese bonds offer exposure to a highly developed economy with strong external trade links, substantial institutional investor participation, and sophisticated financial infrastructure. Taiwanese government bonds' market conditions are influenced by monetary policy, semiconductor exports, global technology demand, exchange rates, inflation, and international capital flows.
