The Issuer was named the best Brazilian bank in terms of financial management in the 2005 September issue of the Brazilian financial magazine Isto É Dinheiro.Based in the city of Curitiba, the Issuer is licensed by the Central Bank of Brazil (Banco Central do Brasil -the “Central Bank”) to operate as a multiple services bank (banco múltiplo) in Brazil with commercial and consumerfinance portfolios, and is subject to the rules and regulations of the Central Bank and the National Monetary Council (Conselho Monetário Nacional - “CMN”), an entity of the Brazilian government responsible for the supervision of Brazilian monetary, credit, budgetary, fiscal and public debt policies.
