Annual US inflation rate fell to 5.3% in August from a 13-year high of 5.4% in June and July
In line with market expectations, US annual inflation declined to 5.3% in August from a 13-year high of 5.4% in June and July. On a monthly basis, the price growth rate decreased to 0.3% from 0.5% in July (the forecast for August was 0.4%).
Core inflation rate YoY in August fell to 4% versus 4.3% in July.
Food prices in the US in August rose by 0.4% on a monthly basis, energy prices - by 2.7%. On an annualized basis, food prices surged 3.7%, while energy prices increased 41.9%.
