Tanzania: Plan to sell $1bn eurobonds midyear

TANZANIA’S government planned to sell as much as $1 billion (R12bn) of eurobonds midyear after rating agencies completed an assessment of the country, Finance Minister Saada Mkuya Salum said. The process of obtaining a credit rating, mooted in 2008, was expected to be completed by the time the fiscal year ended on June 30, Salum said yesterday. The Treasury last year postponed the offering after a delay in obtaining a risk assessment by Citigroup.
