The amount of distressed debt in the US surged 4 times in less than a week

March 26, 2020 | Cbonds

The number of distressed bonds in the US has surged 4 times in less than a week to nearly $1 trillion to the levels of 2008 due to the oil price collapse and the effect of the coronavirus spread.

Distressed debt describes the borrowed funds of companies that are considered to be under significant financial pressure, and often involves a significant risk that debt holders will not be paid all that they owe.
