|On July 3, the National Settlement Depository registered the main IFX-Cbonds index and assigned it ISIN code RU000A100J26, CFI code TIDXXX and FISN CBONDS.RU/IFX-CBONDS RU.|
IFX-Cbonds index has been calculated since January 1, 2002. The index became the first indicator in Russia reflecting the return on investments in the corporate bond market. IFX-Cbonds belongs to the group of “tracker indices” and is a total return index. 30 most liquid corporate bonds traded at the domestic Russian market are included in the index list on a quarterly basis.
Bond indices are considered by market participants as performance indicators (benchmarks) of bond portfolio management, as well as indicators characterizing the condition of the market segment concerned. Assignment of international codes to the Russian bond indices is one of the stages of development of the market of bond tracker funds (mutual funds, ETFs) using bond indices as a benchmark.
ISIN is an alphanumeric code made of 12 digits that does not contain information describing a financial instrument, but serves for uniform identification of a security at trading and settlement, as well as for using it as a financial benchmark. The code assignment standard is approved by ISO 6166.
CFI is a code reflecting material characteristics of a financial instrument, that are defined when a financial instrument is issued. The code assignment standard is approved by ISO 10962.
FISN is a 35-digit code that incorporates the issuer short name of a maximum length of 15 alphanumeric characters and the abbreviated characteristics for the financial instrument – 19 alphanumeric characters or more if the issuer name is less than 15 characters separated by the “/” symbol. The code assignment standard is approved by ISO 18774.
NSD notes that FISN is a visual identifier of financial instruments; its advantage is that it can be used in all accounting and trading systems. It is assigned simultaneously with the ISIN code and complements the machine-treatable CFI code, thereby increasing the reliability of identification.
